This last weekend marked the first night of the Tour De Schlitz. This ride has been something that our good friend D'evon has been anticipating for quite some time now.
It began around 10:30pm. We met at the local liquor store and began the ride on the Great Western Trail. D'evon rode his Long Haul Trucker with panniers full of beer, I rode my Steamroller fixed gear and Hellmut was on his Karate Monkey fixed gear. We weren't expecting to ride nearly as much as we did and because of this, we were extremely unprepared. Fortunately we had a full moon to light the way because D'evon was the only one with proper lighting. We rode to St. Charles and back with about 50mi. total. I arrived home exhausted, muddy, and fairly drunk at the early hours of 4:00am. The ride was filled with good times and we hope to make it a more regular event.
There are a few things we will have to bring for next time:
Bug spray, water, bright lights, food, bib shorts, and more beer.
