This past Sunday, about 20 of us met up at NCC in DeKalb, IL and set out to ride about 111mi to New Glarus, WI. Once in New Glarus, the plan was to drink some New Glarus brew, eat some food and ride this big red bus back home.

Halfway there, we ran into some trouble with the bus which prevented us from getting to Wisconsin. This was quite a bummer.

We continued the ride to our lunch stop where we would later decide on an alternate plan. During this time, D'evon and I somehow got lost and added about 5 extra miles to our ride.

After lunch we all had around 70mi total and decided to just ride 30mi back so that we could at least get 100 in for the day and make it a century. The last 30 were rough. My knees felt like they were gonna explode and I ran out of water.

We ended the ride at a Road Ranger gas station, where we celebrated with some Miller High Life, the champagne of beers. From there, we took the bus home and ate lunch at Fatty's bar and grill. Aside from the little run in with the police, it was a fantastic ride and everyone had a good time. I got home exhausted and passed out immediately on the couch. I totaled about 107 for the day with an average of about 15mph. I look forward to next year's ride. Hopefully we'll make it all the way!
