Recent Rides and Experimentations
Been continuing to ride more fixed gear with Ari lately. It's been good fun. This past Sunday we headed out for 62mi round trip. I started the ride with shorts, knee warmers, a short-sleeved jersey and a light wool jersey. We stopped at a Starbuck's halfway where I shed the kneewarmers and grabbed an iced coffee. It was bizarre to be riding in such incredible heat when just days ago we were wearing the winter jackets. My body was confused. By the time we finished the ride I had also shed my wool jersey, cycling cap and wished for the cold again.
I've been testing out yet another option in my quest for the perfect saddle. This one is a very old San Marco Concor, courtesy of Billy. I've been on it for at least 100mi and so far it is fantastic. I've also been using mustache bars on the steamroller, which is a setup I have been curious about for some time now. This type of handlebar seems to offer more hand positions than anything else and it's been interesting to figure them out.
