Rapha's Latest "City Riding" Line

I often hear people talk about Rapha being overpriced, or pretentious, or whatnot. But the truth is, they truly do make top notch products that, in my opinion, are worthy of their cost. They also make stuff that looks good, and they present it in a way that looks even better. Their latest City Riding line is no exception. Take a look at all of the great images in their lookbook here.

Just look at that windproof hooded top. Daaamn. Yeah, you might think, wow, thats almost $250 for a stupid hoodie. Yeah, well, it also has windproof front paneling, and the body is made completely from high end merino wool, and the hood rolls up and tucks away all nicely, and it has removable reflective tabs, and it's probably the ONLY HOODIE YOU'LL EVER WANT TO WEAR EVER. Buy something once and wear the hell out of it.

The new city rain jacket is another piece I really enjoy. I actually own an older version of this jacket (when it was designed in collaboration with Paul Smith), so I speak from experience when I say it is the best fitting thing I've ever put my arms through, as stated previously here. It's the only jacket I ever want to wear on a bike, and last winter I wore it almost every day.

The long sleeve wool jersey looks good too, and it's a staple in every fall/winter cyclist's wardrobe. I'm diggin' the "old gold" and "dark fig" colors they've been using this season too.

Vulpine's Nick Hussey on CycleLove

There's a great interview over on Cycle Love with Nick Hussey, in which he talks about design, cycling, his brand (Vulpine), and other neat stuff. I've said it before, but Vulpine makes some sweet gear, and it's now available at our shop. Come check it out.

Vulpine Apparel at NCC

We recently became a dealer of the UK's Vulpine here at the shop, and we're really excited about it. We aren't just a Vulpine dealer though, we're one of only 2 in the entire country, and the only retailer that actually stocks their gear in the shop. This is especially cool because it gives you guys a chance to actually see and feel the stuff in person before buying it, and I suggest you do. We were blown away by the quality of their garments. The fit, the materials, the aesthetic... everything is on point for what "casual/urban cycling apparel" should be. Most of their pieces utilize merino wool too, which we are huge fans of. Share The Damn Road

Jonathan Ciaccio over at Share The Damn Road sent me an e-mail about some cycling jerseys they've made which send a good message to drivers on the road. I'm sure most cyclist can agree that they've encountered motorists in need of a good kick in the crotch, but these jerseys provide a much more civilized alternative.

Cyclocross Shirts Are In

These T-shirts came in today and they turned out pretty well! I made the design for the Cyclocross race at Hopkins Park, here in DeKalb, IL, and they were printed by VG Kids. They're nice American Apparel Fine Jersey T's and they fit great. Come out to the race on Sunday and buy one!

Shadow BTS Product

The Shadow Conspiracy put up a flipbook of their Back To School line of apparel and products. It looks like a pretty solid line again with some cool T's.

Huge Blocks is a clothing company out of Japan which appears to sponsor a team of snowboarders and fixed gear riders. They have some pretty cool T-shirt designs too, which are worth checking out. If only they were available outside of Japan.

Albe's T-Shirt Contest

Albe's just posted the top 15 designs from their T-shirt design contest. Jim Cielencki should be picking the winner of the Sunday frame soon. I'm really excited because my design (bottom row second from left) is one of the 15. There are a lot of good designs up there so I'm not getting my hopes up!

Shadow Conspiracy Spring '09

Shadow just put up an online booklet of their new collection. Honestly, I think this is their strongest line yet and I really like a lot of the shirts. I might actually even have to buy one. Check them out on their site. Click the link in the middle of their page.

Looks like Lavar has a new site and some new products on the way, which appear to be keeping up with their theme of simple, clean designs. Stuff looks good.

UGP Spring 2009

The catalogue for UGP's Spring '09 clothing line is here and there is some seriously ugly stuff in it. I miss the old UGP, before they started trying so hard to be 'cool and different'. To me, they are coming off as being unoriginal and desperate with these tacky designs. Someone should tell them that less is usually more.
