"Road Bike Party 2" - Martyn Ashton and Danny MacAskill

As ridiculous as this idea is, they're doing trials bike tricks on perhaps the least practical type of bike possible for that application, and that's impressive as hell. I wonder how long it will be until people actually start taking "freestyle road cycling" seriously... Imagine... "freestyle specific" road bikes, designed to do tricks on, like those FGFS bikes that were way cool for a bit. I'm honestly surprised how well their wheels held up though.

I haven't posted anything about BMX in an extremely long time. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I rode my BMX bike, and after wrecking my shoulder I don't anticipate getting back to it anytime soon. However, I still enjoy watching a good video from time to time, and this one is exceptional. Erik Elstran displays so much creativity and fun on a bike. A few things confused the hell out of me and a few things made me literally laugh out loud.

Mike Jonas / DEFGRIP

This is without a doubt the best BMX edit I've seen in a while. Mike Jonas has a really unique style, and you just don't find that very often anymore. If you're not paying close attention, it's easy to miss all the little no-handers and crossbar-grabs that he incorporates into tricks.

Day Off at the Skatepark

I Still Ride BMX

Wednesday I took advantage of the day off and decided to go to the skatepark. It was probably the first time I've been on the BMX bike since last fall, but I still love ridin' it. It was great to get out there again and the weather was perfect. I managed to get there before it became overcrowded with kiddies too. I rode the hip, ledges, and hey, I even got to ride some GRAVEL!!! I made a dumb little video to show how "hardcore" I am.

Frostbike 2011 Recap pt. IV BMX

I feel like this will never end. Perhaps I took too many photos. Well, here's the BMX stuff from Stolen, Odyssey, BSD, Shadow Conspiracy, Deco, Eastern, Fly and Profile. Odyssey has an interesting brake cable in the works, the new Shadow Kimbrough cranks are very nice, and everything else was cool.

Mutiny and Good Edits

Alright, so maybe it's kind of lame to just post every edit that Mutiny releases, but I can't help it. I think they're all worth watching and I know some of my readers don't keep up with the virtual BMX world. Mutiny knows that quality is better than quantity, and I'd much rather watch a short well executed edit with good music than one of the many effortless videos out there that seem to be more about partying and smoking weed than about BMX. More companies need to follow their example and get a good videographer. The End.

I think a lot of people may not know that Oakley (a company now known for sunglasses) started out as a BMX grip company. This short documentary/interview from Defgrip tells about how the company came to be what it is now. Harrison Boyce did a great job with the filming and editing.

Bob's a student at NIU and sometimes I hang with him at the DeKalb skatepark. There are some clips from that park in this video, as well as some from the NIU campus. This guy always seems to find really creative lines. Enjoyed watching this.
