Evening Brew: Norse Legend

"Legend has it that barrels of sahti were found on sunken Viking ships off the coast of Norway.  This ancient Nordic ale took root in Finland becoming one of the oldest continuously brewed styles."

Being of Norse descent, I was intrigued to experience the Norse Legend and have my first taste of a Sahti style ale.

"Deep amber in color, this rugged brew’s distinctive aroma and flavor comes from aging on a bed of juniper berries."

It had an interesting flavor, but not quite as intense as what I would have expected. It was woodsy, citrusy, malty and earthy. Tasty, but light in flavor. They suggest aging it for a while to bring out the flavors even more, which I would recommend, I'm just not patient enough for that sort of thing. All-in-all, a tasty brew similar to what I'd like to think my ancestors guzzled back in the day prior to pillaging everything in sight...
