The Gravel Metric - Training Ride #1 Announced
I just now realized that I may have forgot to post about this, but The Gravel Metric is taking place on Sunday, May 26th this year. That's exactly 2 months from now, and I have a feeling those months will be going by pretty quick. I've heard "straight from the llama's mouth" that this year's Gravel Metric is going to be the most challenging route yet - So, if you've spent all winter eating 24 inch pizzas and crafting the perfect Malort cocktail, perhaps it's time to get back on the bike.
We're making it easy to get yourself in shape for the GM, even if you've never done a gravel ride of 60ish miles. Training with a group of people is a lot more fun and/or easier than training alone, so we're hosting 3 "Training Rides" leading up to the metric (each increasing in length) - One on March 30th (25mi), one on April 13th (40mi), and one on May 11th (55mi). By May 26th, you should be able to withstand a metric on gravel without dying.
The first training ride is this Saturday, March 30th. Meet behind North Central Cyclery in DeKalb, Illinois and be ready to pedal at 8am (yeah I know, that's pretty damn early, for me at least!). I'm gonna try to make it out, though I may need a wake-up call...
